About Me

EdwinJ.com - About Me

I’m a simple guy with an active mind that will not stop learning or exploring.  My passion is to make, build, craft, create, and shape all sorts of things through my projects.  I use a lifetime of experiences, formal and informal teachings, and many failures to guide my direction.

I was born and raised in North Carolina, and moved around within the state several times throughout my youth.  Our family lived in six North Carolina towns in the mountains, sandhills, and foothills by age thirteen.  I moved to Raleigh about thirty years ago, and never left the area.  It is the place I consider home.  This scattered history, all over North Carolina, gives me the unique ability to claim myself as a BBQ expert. Any mention of Texas, Kansas, Alabama (mayonnaise?) would be totally inappropriate here.  Let’s keep the also-rans and beef out of the BBQ conversation. 🙂

I’m a proud alumnus of NC State and East Carolina Universities.  I do love college sports and my wife finds me a bit too involved in the process sometimes.

What is my content on EdwinJ.com about?

Quite simply, I like to share what I learn.  Over the last 25+ years, I’ve had opportunities to experience and learn from others who are experts at their crafts.  The portfolio of professionals that have given me mentorship, inspiration, and knowledge to share with you through this site’s posts include a private chef, a successful restauranteur, a published photographer, a commercial brew master, and a master carpenter.

With my posts and projects here, I hope that you’re able to go deeper into a topic you’re interested in.  Maybe one of my posts helps you take the next step in that learning experience.  Or better yet, maybe I can introduce you to something completely new. When I discovered the world of woodworking many years ago, I couldn’t learn enough.  Overall, though, simply use this site as you wish to learn, experiment, fail, and then try it again better!

How do you get in touch?

I love answering questions about my projects.  If you have specific questions about a project, feel free to leave them in the comments section of any post. I always do my best to get you a timely reply that can help you and others with that question.  I’m not a huge social media guy anymore, but I’m still available on facebook or threads, if that’s easiest.

I’m also available through the contact me page, if you’d rather keep your communication private.  Either way you choose, I look forward to hearing from you!
